Coming at ya with another life update post. If you can remember a short bit ago, I opened up about some sensitive issues Ive been working with. I had seriously allergy-based skin issues for, well, ever. Last year it had gotten so bad that I’d given up completely on make-up and lived off of tinted moisturizer and Aquaphor. While it certainly got the job done, there’s some big fancy events coming up in life that are making me more and more distressed about my current beauty routine. I needed to find a selection of products that would not only leave me reaction-free, but also work well with all my upcoming travel. I began searching for things that would agree with my allegy-prone skin, while also fitting into the tiny ziplock bag I was allowed in my carry-on. Combine that with the dryness I feel in the dehydrated plane air and itchiness I get in hotel waters, this would be quite the experiment. Did it even exist? After all, I had been through no less than 12 brands of mascara when I first began reacting before swearing them off completely. Did I really want to risk it?
I began by reaching out to make-up artists and other skin *professionals* to get some input on what types of products I should try. After (what seemed like) hours of reading reviews across multiple platforms, I finally took the plunge and ordered a whole new array of items to try out. Although Amazon Prime is usually my go-to, I’ve been having a ton of luck with products from Thrive Market. Everything they sell is *clean* and I don’t have to worry about nasty ingredients that I’ll react to later on. If you want to try them out, click my affiliate link here for 25% off your first order! (I was able to save $62 on my first order than if I had ordered elsewhere).
I’ve waited until now to share my finding because I wanted to get a full two months in to ensure I didn’t have a later reaction (so fun). While these ones have been awesome for me, on might even say life changing, pay attention to what works with your body. The majority of the products, if not all, are paraben-free since ain’t nobody got time for that. Here are the products I use every single day, whether at home or on the road, that have calmed my allergies beyond belief.
Alba Botanica Hawaiian Oil-Free Moisturizer, Aloe & Green Tea, 3 oz. has been lifesaving with combating dry winter air. Not only is it under 3 ounces so I can bring it in my carry on, but it’s the first moisturizer I’ve tried that doesn’t actually dry out my skin more and lasts all day. It gets rid of the first sign of itchiness if I accidentally used an ingredient that doesn’t agree with me from some other lotion.
Acure Brilliantly Brightening Facial Scrub, 4 Ounces (Packaging May Vary) is like a green smoothie for you face! No really, it comes out a spinach-green and feels awesome. I’m a scrub-addict but now how bad the little plastic beads are for the environment so I’ve been searching for a more natural option. This natural wash uses fine grains for a gentle exfoliant. Most scrubs can agitate skin more but this one leaves me extra smooth and calm!
Eye Cream Moisturizer (1oz) 94% Natural Anti Aging Skin Care‘s spunky jar is worth it alone! Rather than skimping on product, this cream will last me forever and can be worn under makeup in the morning and before going to bed. I have super sensitive-eyes (see above) and this works wonders on keeping my skin moisturized without making my eyes water.
Castor Oil (2oz) USDA Certified Organic, 100% Pure, Cold Pressed, Hexane Free by Kate Blanc. Stimulate Growth for Eyelashes, Eyebrows, Hair. Lash Growth Serum. Brow Treatment. FREE Mascara Starter Kit‘reviews got me. I decided to combat my mascara-free lifestyle but using caster oil to help my lashes grow. Does it work? Well, it doesn’t NOT work and if anything it keeps my lashes healthy and less prone to breakage. I’ve noticed now that when wearing mascara my lower lashed look crazy long. Plus, the bottle comes with various applicators. I put it on my lashes and eyebrows both morning at night just because there’s so much in the bottle. Can we take a moment to thank the heavens bold brows are back in?
Teddie Organics Organic Alcohol Free Rose Water, 4 oz‘scent is reason enough to keep a bottle with you at all times. I spray it all over my face and on my decollate multiple times a day. I keep a bottle at home and at work along with some in a travel spray bottle to use throughout long (and short) flights!
Premium Organic Mascara, Black- 100% Natural – 85% Organic – Enriched with Chamomile & Sunflower Oil – Paraben & Gluten Free, Strengthens & Moisturizes – Great for Sensitive Eyes – Made in USA‘s title is pretty self-explanatory. I’ve had zero issues wearing this mascara for long periods of time. I repeat, ZERO ISSUES. After struggling with brand after brand, this one is a winner. Not only is this a natural choice, but it doesn’t clump and adds serious length (but that could be caused by my castor oil *shrugs*). Even if you don’t have sensitive eyes (lucky!) the is a winning choice.
Natural Organic Mascara by Endlessly Beautiful, Black – Vegan & Gluten Free – Nourishes and Conditions Eyelashes – Enriched with Chamomile & Vitamin E was my back-up choice. Why just go with one mascara when you can go for two? I still have yet to open up this brand, but the thousand reviews can’t be wrong.
Prestige Cosmetics Flawless and Ready BB Beauty Balm, Medium, 1 Fluid Ounce has the smoothest finish and blends in perfectly. I started using this in December and it covered up any irritation I had from products I’ve now since tossed.
12 PCS Upgraded Magnetic Eyelashes, Best Magnetic Eyelashes, Ultra Thin Dual Magnetic Eyelashes, Natural Look, Upgrade Fiber and Reusable Magnetic Eyelashes, Best 3D Magnetic Eyelashes for 2018 are what I use when I’m feeling extra fancy. No glue required, these magnetic lashes let me go mascara-free. I initially used One Two Lash (they’re a splurge!) but these cheaper options work almost as well.
What is the one product you can’t live without? Do you wear makeup everyday?
