Top Valentine’s Day Travel Destinations

top destinations for Valentine's Day

Whether you shun the cheesy holiday or embrace all the pink and red in its glory, there’s something to be said about a holiday that revolves around romantically-shaped chocolate and stuffed teddy bears. Whether you’re celebrating with your S.O. or sharing in some Galentine’s Day fun, there’s no better way to indulge those you care about most than with a bonding experience. Sure, I would never turn away a dozen red roses and a pink sugar cookie the size of my face, but spending time with others will far outlast the floral scent and lasting tummy ache. While a few of my trips have certainly sparked more romance than others, I’m calling on some of my other travel blogger peers to help round out this list of the best places to spend February 14th.

Provence, France from A Long from Along Came an Elephant
Why buy a dozen roses when you can meander through thousands of lavender fields? Although Paris usually gets all the attention, head down to Provence for a more unique and authentic French experience you can share with your number one.

chateau de pommard vineyards
Santa Ynez Valley, California, United States from Passing Thru
Although chocolate gets all the attention on February 14th, wine comes in at a close second. Explore numerous wineries in California where the weather is lovely year round and the grapes are even better. And just like love, wine certainly proves that it all gets better with age. #passthecheeseplateplease

Chicago, Illinois, United States from Food Travelist
Looking to travel but don’t want to miss our on the cocoa goodness? The Peninsula Chicago’s Chocolate at the Pen is a delicious dining indulgence that offers a variety of chocolate dishes to enjoy after a busy day wandering the Windy City. Whether you prefer milk, white or dark, you’ll find it all that fixins of this elegant chocolate bar (pun intended) on Saturday and Sunday evenings in The Lobby.

It doesn’t get more romantic than a warm weekend away while the rest of the states are freezing. One of the best ways to ensure quality time with each other is planning a road trip. Exploring the new roads that wind through national parks, charming cities and food havens is the best way to enjoy each other’s company without any distractions.
